I don’t want to disappoint those of you who read this to know about what's going on in my crazy life, etc. I also just love bragging about stuff so here’s an update for you:
I love college and living on my own. My first semester at UNM was difficult but honestly having friends and a great social life have really helped me get through my classes.
I’ve tried a lot of new things. I went climbing for the first time last month and I enjoyed it a lot. My bestie Cas and I have been going to the gym almost every day, and I’m trying to create a routine where I can be active. Not having a car and walking everywhere does help.
My cat, Meg, likes the dorm. I am working on training her to go on walks. It started with taking her around campus in a backpack and now I just carry her to a secluded spot and let her explore on her leash. I get a lot of weird looks and some compliments. Having an animal in college really helps with stress and taking care of something else motivates me to take care of myself.
I had a big birthday party in my dorm over thanksgiving break and Hailey, my step sister Megan, and my friend Hanna came and visited me for a weekend. Coming to visit me was an item on Sierra’s bucket list so I’m really happy that Hailey and Hanna came and completed that for her.
I signed a lease to live in an apartment with my current roommate and our bestie next year. I’m excited but need to get a job and a car ASAP.
I have three new tattoos on my arm and I'm really proud of them. I can't wait until summer to show them off.
Finals week was one of the worst weeks of my life, literally blood sweat and tears went into turning in all my assignments on time but it was worth it because I basically got straight A’s (except for one B+ in stats class).
I’m not going to say that this semester was great, because dealing with Sierra’s death has been a huge struggle. But I think I’m off to a good start in Albuquerque and I like where I am at currently. If you’re reading this thank you for the love and support!
Cheers to change, new friends, maturing, being 20, and being where your feet are.
